Gel Nails vs Shellac Nails

Gel nails vs Shellac nails is the question? Recently I was introduced to Shellac nail polish by my nail tech. I currently have gel nails. I am looking for something different so a few days ago I took off my gel nails and decided to go natural. I am hoping with all the new nail polish technology I will be able to ditch the artificial. I wanted to share my feeling on both gel nails and gel polish.

Gel nails are artificial nails that look extremely realistic . They are thin, flexible, non-yellowing and non porous. Gel nails give  customers a natural look and give them durability equally like acrylic nails. They also feel lighter then Acrylic nails.I had Acrylic nails before and would always pick gel nails before then. Gel nails are more pricey then acrylic I had paid $45.00 for a full set and $30.00 for a refill every 2-3 weeks. You can also purchase Professional Gel Kit online or at your local drugstore for under $70. I suggest professional application.

Shellac nail polish is the first hybrid nail color that applies like polish, wears flawlessly for 14 days of high gloss shine, and is removed in minutes. Unlike a traditional nail polish, gel polish(Shellac)  is painted on with a brush and each layer is “cured” under a UV light to dry. Gel polishes come in a wide array of colors and finishes. What impressed me about Gel polish (Shellac) was:

*Dry time – The UV light dries the polish within minutes

*Less damaging – No drills or filing down of your nails.

*Long lasting – lasts from 2-3 weeks with no chipping.
Shellac polishes can be purchased online, but you will need a UV lamp in order to do them at home, which usually cost about $200! Ouch! I suggest going for the salon to get the gel polish manicure or polish change, and learn new things like nail dipping powder, etc.

I can honestly say for women with artificial nails that are looking for a change try the gel polish (shellac nails) for a natural feel! My gel manicure lasted more then 2 weeks! It only cost $25. Will you try it?
